no such law exists.
That was the talking point when the PAC-12 rumors surfaced years back

Florida State could come knocking too by that same standard if the SEC wanted two big programs all at once.
Hell no! UF would NEVER allow that to happen. It's already state law that they have to play FSU anyway. No benefit to bring them in. They don't bring a alumni/fan base a la ND so you can't make the TV argument. You bring TX, you bring a majority of the state that has 5 of the T12 biggest metro areas in the country. Attach OU and that's 7 in the T25 (but not like you can really count El Paso :manny: )

The fact that these two schools have a history of trying to control their conference, I really don't know how likely it is to happen. Maybe they will get in line, but they will soon find out that doesn't fly in the SEC. You don't get any preferential treatment and you take what everybody agrees to. I don't know if they would last long even if they did somehow join the conference for a few years.

Texas A&M came into the conference and fit in and was just happy to be here. I don't know about these 2.
That’s what I meant on the first page. There’s a difference between being a leader in your conference vs now being in a conference led by Bama & LSU

Conference isn't led by Bama and LSU. You might think that way because of football being the most visible sport. Everybody agrees on how the conference operates and really the Commissioner's office is running the decisions. It's all run to be as fair as possible to everybody. Texas and OU seem to want to have advantages wherever they are at. They won't be getting more money or more of anything than anybody else. Vanderbilt literally gets everything everybody else gets and they aren't competitive at all in the major sports at the moment other than baseball.

There a ton of back flipping. 10 years ago, texas was trying hard to get into the PAC. And raised their nose to the SEC.

What's changed? If in theory they can cherry pick their conference why head East? I'm trying to understand how a school can act like it ain't really that Southern, but call A&M hillbillies. Then turn around 10 years later? And try to get in when they wanted to get next to SC, Stanford, and UCLA?

I'm not going to pretend to know the numbers, but by footprint. A&M represents the state already. Florida State could come knocking too by that same standard if the SEC wanted two big programs all at once. Instead of OU who brings nothing in the way of state numbers. & I recognize OU's history, but they're in a low populated state.
I think the big difference now is the chance to turn the SEC into the first Super Conference. Also, that tv money can change some minds.

I think it's state law that Oklahoma can't leave without OKST. :yeshrug:

It's a unwritten law. Basically Okie State politicians will pull funding from OU, but OU will make money hand over foot in the SEC. Bedlam can be a non-conference game every season.

It's a joke anyways!

Kansas gonna be hoopin in the Mountain West Conference

:francis::leon:

Kansas and Iowa State will be in the B1G.

I don't understand this, unless they're that desperate. They're not going to get the votes. Arkansas left because of them the first time. Missouri and A&M aren't going to let it happen.. LSU doesn't want them to compete for their state talent. It's an embarrassing announcement if true.

I thought the PAC was going to welcome them with open arms. :sas2:

PAC miss the train when they let UCLA, Cal-Berkeley & Stanford didn't OU & OSU in the PAC without Texas.

So what happens to the LHN @satam55 @dtownreppin214 ? There’s no way the SEC powers would allow them to keep all the $$$ from their own network AND get a cut of the SEC TV $$.

Aren’t OU and Ok State joined at the hip by law?

The Longhorn Network is a failure... and always has been. As soon as ESPN kills it, OU and Texas are moving!

See first post about OU/OSU...

.
I don’t think Kansas or Iowa state is academically strong enough to join the big 10 plus neither school is a big TV market ( Maryland DC, Rutgers NY) that’s why the big 10 didn’t pick up Missouri when Missouri wanted to join the big 10 before joining the SEC
