When the urban community accepted an openly gay/bi male artist it opened the floodgates for what we're now witnessing and will witness moving forward. Boy George and Culture Club made a lot of good records but if you rode around bumping that shyt post-gangsta rap you would be associated with that kind of sexuality yourself. It's not about the music, nikkas should've turned a deaf ear to Frank Ocean for agenda purposes alone no matter how much they liked his music.

There's a reason why Luther and Freddie Jackson stayed in the closet. They knew their fan base wouldn't accept them.

In my opinion, Luther and Freddie were chumps for staying in the closet, be who you are and don't mislead people, hell a lot of us were conceived to them dudes music but that's a whole 'nother issue. I don't have a problem with homosexuals (punks, on the other hand I do have a problem with) but I take issue when people use music to portray something that is not who they are, whether they be gangster rappers, people passing themselves off as being of another race, or whatever. Hell I even take exception to the fact that as Jehovah's Witnesses the Jackson 5 put out a fukking Christmas album!!

Also to your point about music vs. agenda, I feel you, but we do have to be careful here, because you can't pick what "agenda" you're cool with. Gangsta rap was agenda based, Neo-Soul was agenda based, Adult Contemporary is agenda based, I can go on and on. The fact that this guy is a homosexual should not be the issue, that's a cop out to us once again not addressing the actual issue which is the misogynistic exploitation of the lifestyle for profit which is the same issue when similar music and videos are put out by heterosexual artists.

I think when it comes to Blacks there's always an agenda being pushed on us. Present day hip hop is teaching us to do whatever we have to in order to attain material things which often leads to crimes for Gucci belts and other shyt that don't matter in life. Gangsta rap in it's conception was designed to rebel against the system until the system realized they could use it as a tool to profit the Prison Industrial Complex. The next wave of hip hop will be to emasculate the Black man and over sexualize the Black woman. I'm already hearing toddle girls singing "Drunk In Love".

Maybe you shouldn't be so impressionable so you won't have to worry about agendas emasculating or teaching you things.

frank ocean is 1 artist outta however many might be gay and has some kinda relevance. hell this dude had to make a song like this to catch attention, this has no staying power, people wont be playing this (definitely not straight people) so where this gay agenda actually going?
