Houston Rockets hire Ime Udoka as next head coach

It helps we had one of the longest stretches in the nba of consecutively making the playoffs (24 seasons?) or some crazy ass stat. We are def a winning organization and this is the first full year down I’ve seen since the end of the era that got us to Harden.

Whether it's a multi-billion dollar organization in any industry or just one individual human belonging to any tax bracket, credibility and your name being attached to positive results matters a ton in this world.

I wish more people understood this notion

It’s not unreasonable to say we will be looking at a Play In game next year if we land Wemby and a few key vets to pair with our young core.

Wemby will be a project. I honestly don’t expect a lot out of him his first year. I would hope our previous lottery picks and sengun would carry the burden of responsibility and accountability to compete.

40 wins got to the 10th seed in both conferences this year. Houston won 22. They'll basically have to double their win total to get to the play-in - not impossible but not something I'd bank on. I think getting to 35 wins is a great year 1 for Ime.

The Rockets only have a 14% chance to get Wemby, so I wouldn't make big plans on that. Hope ain't a plan.

You probably didn’t get a chance to watch many Rockets games. We weren’t getting run out the gym every night, there’s easily 20 games we blew it in the final 3-4 minutes of the game because of terrible coaching.

I watched a bunch of their games. They need a vet PG(someone like Rubio or Mike Conley Jr.), but your rotation is gonna have Sengun/KPJ/JG/Kenyon Martin JR/lottery pick... most of these guys can't even drink legally in the US yet. It's not realistic to think they're gonna compete for a playoff spot next year. All you want to see is solid improvement.

It's a good hire but coaches only want to go there because of the chance of getting a top 3 pick. That's it. Hopefully Ime can get these dudes to play some defense.
