The decline of Trout might finally be here. If they slip a decent ways out of the Wild Card race, they need to shop Ohtani HEAVY before the deadline.

That Trout contract could become an albatross and it runs through 2030.

The goal is to win it all. To me, an Ohtani makes a lot of sense for two teams: the Yanks and Rays.

NY hasn't won a WS in 14 years; Tampa never has.

The Yanks would probably just be trading a bunch of overhyped prospects like Volpe and Dominguez. The Rays are loaded for the regular season but likely don't have enough juice for the postseason, especially starting pitching.

I can see the case against NY trying but I cannot see an argument against Tampa trading for him.

Tampa does have a loaded system, but that's because that's all they really use. If they wanted to try, nobody would really blame them.


The Yankees' issues despite what everyone believes, is not their starting pitching. It's their inability to hit when they need to hit.

Also, they've put too much into Volpe, to the point where Peraza is KILLING it in AAA and they're petrified of promoting him to play 3B (or SS). If the Yankees wanna give up the farm for anyone, it's Soto, not Ohtani. I'd trade the Martian for Soto, not Ohtani without an extension. The Yankees have good hitting in the minors (Peraza, Dominguez, Sweeney, Pereira, Arias) but the pitching isn't what the Angels would want. Tampa could give them their top 6 guys and they'd be fine.
