:scust:

That's really fukking nasty work by them. Witt Jr. should be good. I know Melendez is having an awful year but I think he could be a solid player. Pasquantino was having a nice year before the injury. They just have absolutely no pitching. Brady Singer was supposed to be their guy and he isnt consistent. I'm sure being on a god awful team doesnt help, but since that Hosmer, Moustakas, Cain, Alex Gordon and Salvy run ended, they went right back to embarrassment. Shame because KC fans are good and that stadium still one of the best looking.

A bit misleading.

The Royals in the last 5 years have FOUR players drafted in the Top 10:

2019: Bobby Witt (already a Major Leaguer)
2020: Asa Lacy (Pitcher)
2021: Frank Mozzicato (Pitcher)
2022: Gavin Cross (Outfielder)

You could add 2023's Blake Mitchell (Catcher), but it's foolish to want a guy drafted last month (out of High School, mind you) to already be a Top 100 prospect.

That said, at least in the 1st half of Dayton Moore's time as GM of the Royals, he was fairly successful and did deliver a World Series appearance in 2014 and a championship in 2015.

JJ Picollo is the new Royals GM and he does have some work ahead of him.
His 1st notable move was trading Aroldis Chapman a few weeks back for 25 year old Cole Ragans (not really important) and 17 year old OF Roni Cabrera.

At the Major League level, obviously Witt is the centerpiece. But Pasquantino should be solid once he returns from injury. I still think there's something there with Melendez. Not a fan of Pratto.

But the overhaul needs to be in their pitching prospects.

Brady Singer is nothing more than an innings-eater.
If they could somehow make Carlos Hernandez into a starter, they might have something. But literally everyone else could go. And it's clear the Royals recognize their lack of pitching because in 2023's draft they took 4 of them in their first 7 picks (and 11 total)

Great to see Cody Bellinger playing well again.

Great job by the Chicago Cubs. Talk about a low risk/high reward move paying off.

lowkey Ohtani has been struggling on the mound a bit lately. He was lights out for the first couple months. He's having a monster year at the plate of course.
