Okay let's stick to this argument. What all metrics and algorithms are you using to claim that Ashanti came out the gate hotter than any solo act ever. Alicia keys did 8 million out the gate, Beyoncé did 5 million. Both did way more than Ashanti. And that's just me starting at 2000.

I already said it, she broke a record that only the Beatles held, she came out hot, that’s not an opinion fam.

But hey, she’s no beyonce overall I’ll agree, cheer up man, Beyonce has the #1 song in the country right now, she’s doing great

Not one person said Ashanti wasn't hot when she came out that's little shyt you add in the convo for no reason.

Saying Ashanti came out the gate the hottest solo act ever is complete nonsense considering that both whitney and Mariah came out the gate going diamond both selling over 10 million records on their debut albums

Ashanti came out the gate with a debut album that broke the first week sales record for a debut album from a female artist.

Do you nikkas what that means? That means Ashanti’s first album sold more its first week than debuts by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, etc etc etc.

“Foolish was also #1 for 10 straight weeks...one of the longest #1 single that whole year. Ashanti’s debut solo single sat on top of the pop charts for two and a half months. Whitney didn’t do that. Mariah didn’t do that. Janet didn’t do that. Alicia didn’t do it. Beyoncé didn’t do it.

But yes. Let’s act like Ashanti wasn’t running shyt when she came out lol.

This was your original statement.....

Lol @ dude acting like Ashanti wasn’t bigger than Beyoncé from 2002-2004.

Record sales and billboard hits and movie roles determined that to be a lie..... delusional nikka

She was. And you can keep quoting me trying to redeem yourself because you’re a proven liar. It won’t matter.

Ashanti >>> Beyoncé. You can’t erase 2002-2004 from the history books. And I’m not changing what I said.

So how do we move on from this? Lol

Amerie is fine af and Beyonce obviously bit her style BUT I seriously doubt Amerie would have become a legit star.

Sad to say but she doesn't have the "IT" factor.

Most of them are under 25 so they would've been younger than 10 years old in the early 2000s.

If we transported back in time to 2002, Ashanti was the girl on Murder Inc. dropped 3 big urban singles (Happy, Baby, Foolish) and was on all of Ja Rule's and J-Lo's singles that year/summer. J-Lo had a BIG run in 2001 and 2002 with J.Lo/This Is Me Then albums. Alicia Keys had a big debut with Fallin, A Woman's Worth and Girlfriend. She was the new girl on the block. Amerie made a banging summer joint. Aaliyah had just passed last summer and everyone was still mourning her and playing her songs everywhere. And, Beyonce had just finished up the Goldmember movie, dropped Work It Out which was her first real solo single and was working on her debut album. Destiny's Child had dropped Survivor the year before but, this idea that Beyonce was the Queen back then is laughable :heh:

You still had Mary J. Blige (the Breakthrough album was BIG in 2006), Mariah Carey (had a major major year in 2005), Brandy (Full Moon was a good album in 2002) and Monica (So Gone was a big album in 2003) hanging around too. Bey Hive stay twisting facts up and distorting reality :heh:

On top of all of that, Ciara came out strong in with her first album in 2002/2003, had collabs with Bow Wow--who was actually poppin back then--then in 2005-2006 dropped the "Promise" video :wow:. The second album overall was solid too.

Keyshia Cole was poppin around that time, and Kerri Hilson came out not long after.

The competition was really strong back then.
