It's actually very very easy. People think because they are in the gym, lifting weight, sweating, that they are doing something when they are just wasting time and energy.
I know folks who post about how they in the gym damn near everyday since we graduated HIGH SCHOOL. :beli:

Muhfukkas deadass look the EXACT SAME :mindblown:

It's funny because when people see me they say I look the same and can't believe I'm in the gym.

Tbh, I tell everyone I'm working out to stay fit and active not for aesthetic. I still play soccer well into my thirties; I sprint fast, I still get a second wind in the second half, I'm still heading the ball, slide tackling, all for 90 mins in my men's summer league.

I'm obviously not keeping up with 20 year olds anymore but I can still hang.

Depends on what you training for. Once I hit 250 lbs I switched to muscular endurance instead of weight gain and promptly stpped putting on weight. Definitely had to decrease caloric intake and that shyt was HARD to do

Sounds like you have good cardio. But you couldn't be doing any real resistance training with progressive overload and look the same.

Lol when I went to the gym I didn't bother changing my diet and I STILL lost weight! :pachaha: Lost about 30 pounds.

My cardio endurance improved a lot before I stopped going due to COVID shutting everything down. I went to a chain gym and mainly stuck to the machines for strength training and for cardio I ran on the treadmill and sometimes went on the stairs stepper. Sometimes I put the incline up on the treadmill, increased the speed and brisk walked on the treadmill.

The Truth
Depends…

Diet
Intensity
Frequency
Genetics
Etc., can all be reason why someone doesn’t improve.. especially new comers.

But if you not working hard, staying on your routine but not working hard, you won’t see a change or it will not look like it.

There was this one NFL guy whose diet was trash even though he was in the NFL.

He stopped drinking one summer and lost like 20lbs just from not drinking alcohol.

If u actively play a sport thats different imo. U not tryna get jacked if u still playing pickup basketball, adult league soccer, tennis, golf etc.

I see the same skinnyfat dudes lifting the same 135, for years. Never, progressively adding on weight. I always assume it's a health issue.

You're right, to be more specific. I meant I haven't changed drastically. I didn't grow a gut, my girl told me my legs, shoulder and back are bigger. My arms are more defined (I don't do a lot of arm workouts, I should tho). I didn't gain like 30lbs of muscle like those guys on IG.

Me, I am not a gymrat, I'm not gonna lie on the coli for clout but I'm the furthest thing away from being flabby and sick. We all have different goals right.

That's what I'm saying, my brother is in his 40s and swole af and is a straight Hooper.

I'm not trying to get swole, I just wanna be able to play pick up sports forever. It's a soccer league for men in their +50, I'm hoping in 20 years I'll be blessed to join up with them.

It's not a health issue, nikkas just dont know how to work out.

And when it comes to bench specifically, it's all just ego lifting. They're not progressing because they're just winging it tryna lift as much as they can with some bullshyt half reps
