All-time fall guy :mjpls:

Not sure if any coach was more set up to fail in NFL history

Given the same resources Vrabel got this season and they're at least in the playoffs
This is correct, they absolutely did not put him in a position to succeed at all.

That being said, he clearly was not ready to be a HC. Kraft wouldn't have even hired him if he was not contractually obligated to do so

Cognitive dissonance is a motherfukker.

You can't say he wasn't ready when the organization was actively working against him and wanted him gone before he even started. I don't doubt that they had a deal done with Vrabel as soon as he left Tennessee and did everything in their power to tank Mayo's success. Who knows how good of a HC he could've been there if the team actually wanted him there.

He had 5 seasons of coaching total and zero seasons of coordinator experience. He had no business being a head coach.

You say this as if Kraft wasn't the one who signed off on it

Somehow you’re blaming Jerod Mayo.

Dude let’s be very clear here.
The stars aligned for the Patriots in 2025 in a way I haven’t seen in decades.

Not only did the Patriots face the easiest schedule in the league this season, they were lucky enough to go against a very weak Chargers team in the 1st round. And then faced a Texans team that was ravaged by injuries (and quite frankly, probably ran out of gas trying to win the AFC South)…on top of facing Denver (a team yet to really prove themselves as legit contenders) they are gifted horrible weather, ensuring a close game that would boost their chances. AND they went up against Jared Stidham…who hadn’t even played all season. The Broncos were hinging their Super Bowl hopes on a Frank Reich-esque performance that didn’t happen.

It’s not like Mike Vrabel suddenly constructed a powerhouse and ran thru the premier AFC talent like the Bills, Chiefs, Ravens and Bengals.

And of course. Pats fans will accuse this post of hating.

But deep in their hearts they know this was the easiest possible path.

Congrats. And admit the truth.

Herbert/Stroud/Stidham is one of the all time joke runs for maybe any AFC champion in history.

Why did they even hire him?

Because he had a really good relationship with Kraft and Kraft wanted to improve his standing with HoF voters by hiring a black coach, being in support of diversity optically plays well

all time woat?
They Spent 100 million on talent when he left, he never had a chance. It was always vrabels job even when he was in Tennessee trying to get fired.

Exactly he went from inside LB coach directly to head coach, what did the Patriots expect, experience matters and he just did not have it, there is a reason why coaches follow the coordinator path
