How big of a bust is OJ Howard?

A couple of things happened. He kept getting hurt at the beginning of his career. Foot & ankle injuries if I remember correctly. Then there was a coaching change in Tampa where Dirk Koetter got fired & Bruce Arians came in. TEs aren't heavily featured in the passing game in Bruce Arians' offense, so he wasn't getting many looks primarily due to that. Cameron Brate also came in and showed to be a better pass catcher than OJ too. Anyway, OJ also tore his achilles at the beginning of the season in 2020. He & Brady seemed to have a pretty good connection at the start of the 2020 season, but then the injury happened. They say it takes up to a year to recover from an achilles injury, and that's likely why he was limited last year whenever Gronk was out.

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays well in Buffalo, but he was definitely a wasted pick for us in Tampa primarily due to injuries.

When everyone around you is a 5 star the question is always are you great or are you benefitting from a great situation? Sure you have to be good to play there and youll have the measureables but will you have the intangibles and details?

He was really fast but not a good WR
Yeah I mean in hindsight that’s exactly what it was and he was injury prone but I recall one season for my bengals the dude scored every 2-3 times he touched the ball. Problem is he was injured the rest of the time. I was hoping he could sting together a Percy harvin lane but harvin was 2 times the actual football player.

OJ Howard made me nervous about Kyle pitts which it shouldn’t have. But I was thinking pitts would have the same issues.

He made a couple plays in preseason but must have really been cheeks in practice. Bills are taking on a relatively considerable cap hit to get rid of him
I was hearing from last week that he probably wouldn't make the cut

I believed the hype when he was at Bama and I was still holding on to it when he signed with the Bills, but I gotta accept that it’s over :to:

Me too :francis:

Outside of the 2013 LSU game and the 2 Clemson title games, he was underutilized at Bama but man when he got the ball he made magic happen, sad that it probably won’t work out for him.

His entire career numbers (56 games played) only add up to being slightly better than Travis Kelce's best seasons and op asks if he's a bust :dead:

Couldn't even get to Kellen Winslow II level who was another generational TE talent that at least had a couple decent seasons before flaming out. He also tore his ACL doing wheelies on his motorcycle in the parking lot :pachaha:
