I didn't know ghost a Rae where fan favs above meth. Ghost is def my fav out the crew

Well, Ghost seemed to be from what I could see from around the time Supreme Clientele and his subsequent albums dropped, I
guess because they all ranged from classic to pretty good while most of the Clan's sophomore solos were not as well
received and just not as good in general.

Plus the the way Ghost and Rae would feed off each other on their debuts, their guest verse on The Infamous etc.

I definitely think that a lot of Wu fans considered them the strongest solo members for a while

Yea I was born in 83 and grew up in NYC... I liked Meth but Ghost and Rae were on another level to me.

I think what killed Meth was he had great, great, great singles (Bring the Pain, Release Yo Delf), but his album wasn't that good. It still had that dusty ass 36 Chambers sound which really only could work once. Rae's album was the best produced album of 95, easily, and Ghost's album had classics + a cohesive theme in a way only Ghost could do it. Those are albums u can still find new things in 20 yrs later.

It depends on where you were but it was dope and had people's attention. You have to remember in 94 a ton of shyt was dropping all the time and there was no machine behind most new acts but Meth and the Wu as a whole sound was so organic and sounded like nothing else at the time. I wouldn't say it was everywhere or big but people took notice. Meth killed that shyt. I still remember when The Mystery of Chessboxin video coming on Rap City and losing my shyt when ODB verse came on but that shyt use to get me so fukking hyped.

I'm in the minority, but I always thought ironman was better than OB4CL.

also, I agree with the Tical sentiments. I didn't think the album was that great outside of those singles like bring the pain and release yo delf either. I wasn't even a huge fan of the mary j blige single as I preferred the OG version.

matter of fact, out of the early wu shyt (1st gen solo albums), I thought meth's album was the worst. behind the likes of:

ODB
GZA
ghost
rae

It was huge, so was All That I Need. He was set to be the original 'star' in the Wu, before Ghost and Rae really became
fan favorites

yup. it was all set up for meth. he had a solo song on 36 chambers. then the huge singles with bring the pain and all I need. plus he came with "how high" remix off the show soundtrack. everyone thought he was gonna be the frontman for the clan at first til other members dropped better projects than him.
