How big would Patrice O'Neal have been if he were alive?

Nah breh, biiiiig misconception. Dude was far from lazy he just tired of trying to "make it", check this "unmasked" clip. And regard to the "Arrested Development" "Office" checks he was getting, he was tired of doing 6 hours of genius takes only for them to use 2 minutes of some genius shyt he did. Thats a big reason why he tried do to the "Patrice O'neal Show".

There was still a bit of laziness involved. For a while dude never even wrote his standups. He would just go out there and say whatever was on his mind.

Let's be real tho. He was a genius but he was fukking lazy. The O&A show with Chris Rock proved he was. There was no need for him to be unprepared for an audition regardless of how much a genius he was.

I feel ya'll are speaking on a particular symptom while i'm talking about the disease itself. When ya'll say lazy it takes away from his what he actually achieved given the shyt he went through. Either it was the fukkery of the rape charge, not having a pops/mentor to guide him or just the plain fact that he was a big black man from boston, that shyt caused dude to be a self saboteur extraordinaire. The "laziness" and being a douche were mechanisms to allow him to say "hey, well i was never gonna get the job because of this and that" but truthfully dude was struggling to get grips with the fact that being in comedy wasn't about being funny and that thing that he was so good at, making people laugh, was not what it was.

None of y'all cared about this cat until he died :yeshrug:.

:patrice:became the :pachaha::pacspit: of his time.

Otherwise when he was alive  Wasn't checking for him. And please stop with all the "I always like Patrice" nonsense.

Some of us were HUGE Patrice fans for years before he died fam.

There are a lot of cats on here who are stand up fans/O&A fans etc. so let's not pretend like he was unknown before he died, or that now he is dead he's somehow crazy famous.

It pretty much feels like the people that repped him before he died are just vocal in keeping his name alive so to you it seems like he's blown up.

I don't know, did he wanna be big?i didn't really start checking for em til I saw Elephant In The Room,i remember the opinion of him being some token c00n on a radio show hosted by whiteboys who also appeared on fox c00nin, so I unfortunately threw him in the bushes:camby:...after elephant in the room I checked for em and realized nikkas was just throwin the c00n word around again:ufdup:...he seem to have a cult following an maybe that's all dude wanted,im glad he put Elephant in the room out though becuz I probably woulda never checked for em had I not seen it....u can be funny as hell but if you not a industry nikka who go to all the partys and mingle and bullshyt with people once you get your buzz I don't know how far you can get. Not too much different from the rap game

edit-not sayin everybody on sohh and the coli thought he was a c00n but I remember a lot of people did and maybe they were just goin off what they heard other people sayin too,i never heard of em in real life so I know that mustve been opinions from sohh or the coli...but who cares if people were late or not.

Yeah I heard about this. That whole convo was funny.

When I heard this story, I was :dead:

Saying how he got put through the "punk test" and failed miserably. I haven't really heard his stand up material but all the things I heard on Opie and Anthony made me  All those conversations.

his stories are so memorable I know exactly where I was when I first heard them :wow:

for this one, a tuesday afternoon on the 2nd floor of a mcdonalds on 20-something street and 5th avenue before physics lab :wow:

Word up. Been familiar since his "your raping time" joke. Didn't really follow him until the roast and then sohh put me on to Black Phillip and his O&A stuff which made me a huge fan.

Not true at all. I been following Patrice since Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. Just because you didn't know him until he died doesn't mean everyone else only knew him until he died.
