Outdoor games are great, but there are numerous reason the NFL/fans often like domes more.

1. Less variables with poor weather impacting games. Some teams will significantly benefit from poor weather.

2. The main reason is the teams want to attract your casual fan. A casual fan may not want to go back to another game, pay for parking/food if they are in pouring rain for hours. And, the stadiums are not used for just NFL games. You have concerts, events, etc. at them as well, and a stadium with no roof limits what you can do.

I like the outdoor games, but if you haven't been in pouring rain at a stadium in the mid 30's, then you don't know how that can feel out there. The rain and wind is ten times worse than snow.

Edit: I prefer the outdoor games and the elements, but it makes sense why the NFL and team owners would want a dome stadium.

They only really want them due to multi year use reasons, it honestly has nothing to do with fans its due to more money opportunities. You could build a bowl like the bills new stadium and heated grass.

Correct.

They want it to be used for more opportunities, but if you don't think it has anything to do with wanting your "casual" fan to feel comfortable at the game when they are paying hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to go to a game, then I think you're off base on that. Watching games at home now with fans having access to red-zone and NFL Sunday Ticket makes it much easier for fans to want to stay home and not go.

Bears want the dome for the additional revenue. We get a dome and now we're an option for Wrestlemania, big time concerts throughout the year as opposed to just May-October.

Only people who don't go the games don't understand. shyt is miserable in December and January in the North;
Bro by God's grace I've been to the Meadowlands/Metlife so many times... it's not just the cold, that wind will have you rethinking life. Like why the fukk am I out here? It's not that serious.

If they had a climate controlled stadium I'd be at every Jet home game

owners were super cheap. Every stadium that we thought was gonna have a dome and the only one who wound up with one was the US Open and that's because we realized rain kept postponing the event for days and days.

Met Life shoulda been the epicenter for every huge event, indoor or outdoor. Instead it's the poster child for expensive garbage.
