I think the general direction rap is headed toward now is to focus more on the younger generation.

It's not really his fault... it's just an overall shift in what people want to see. Five years from now rappers like Chief Keef will be looked at in the way we regard someone like Wayne today.

What makes you say that?

hip hop is all about a moment and as more time goes, those moments become shorter and shorter
juicy has done really well for himself, he 20 some years in the game and his solo "comeback" was impressive considerin' he's been around forever but young fans only know him for his "trippy" era
i'm sure if he really wants to come back again, he'll find the right people to work with to rejuvenate his career again though
all he gotta do is come back with another catchy tune and he'll be right back like he never left
it's easy to do hip hop now, come up with with simplest hook and like magic, you back and the radio and easily impressed love you

From 2010-currently, Juicy J hasn't been rapping any different. In music, you usually get a 1 chance to make a comeback and re-invent yourself, and Juicy J has already exceeded that. Lit In Ceylon and Rude Awakening were fire, but they were also tapes/albums that just dropped out of nowhere with no build, unlike all the RBB tapes and Blue Dream & Lean. The same thing happened to 2Chainz.
Chainz is still somewhat relevant and had a gold album(if not plat with the streaming shyt now), Juicy cold out here and he keep trying to make songs with Wiz

Think about 2Chainz in 2012 and 2Chainz now.....yea. And then I'll bring you to this:

:jawalrus:......... he still doing his thing

doing better than a whole lot of 90s artists

I think Juicy J is doing fine. Him and 2Chainz should be the blueprint for vets who aren't trying to be Jay-Z.

Definitely not Thug. The other dudes maybe.

But what does that have to do with it?

Lol you kinda just proved my point. "Is this what we need?", yet "definitely not Thug".
