Off the Wall in one shot basically capped off disco and set the template for 80's R and B, that's why. Anyone who heard that album back then knows that Mike should have won album of the year at the Grammy's when it wasn't even nominated (It went to Billy Joel for 52nd st which was his best album, imo. In fairness). Off the Wall basically forced the music industry to look at Black music seriously. Plus the lack of accolades basically made Mike do Thriller which was a fukk you album at heart.
