Uncertain grounds
i'm still not sold on UBI, what's the point of giving a doctor making 300k/yr an extra $1k/month? i'm convinced it can be helpful in emergency macros crises (like now) or would even support it for those working 40-50/hrs a week that make less than 30k/yr or some shyt, but I don't get the point of a basic income being "universal" - ie. all income levels.

its the same principal of not means testing the 1200 stimulus check

but they did means test/target it, it phased out for those earning 75k+ and anyone over 99k didn't get shyt. seems like the same principle, give a basic income to those making less than $XX,000

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I know someone would come in and say some first rate dumb shyt!

:snoop:

It’s never been done before so I can call it whatever I want :manny:

it’s not capitalism. It’s more of a collection of different ideologies.

Either way it’s a stupid idea for the current times. The current national debt is $23.3 trillion dollars. The deficit this year alone was of the the worst since the 1940’s. Yang is a tool and his 15 minutes of fame is just about up.

My bad you're right..I forgot

Yang's ubi was always for "all americans"..but that's like advocating for a flat tax in some regards to me

I think means testing is fine although someone is always gonna be pissed off

Its being done. You're just ignorant to what is going on in the world!

And naw you aint spread false information around here, so withdraw that smug shrug.

You have no idea what capitalism is someone told you what it is and you without doing the proper work of researching it took it as is. You do understand the end goal of capitalism is not to work, not sure why this concept is so hard for people to understand.

So according to your definition of capitalism sovereign wealth fund is a communist vehicle, :snoop:

Stop posting misinformation, this is not a Yang idea. Do your homework breh!

As a left leaning democrat I think for now we are not ready for UBI and I am against it. The whole idea for UBI was to help people whose jobs have been replaced by tech. However we are not yet at that point in my opinion.

Finally no one thinks about the immediate consequences that is caused by a rapid increase of income for the largest proportion of the population. Whether it is making minimum wage $20/hr or giving UBI...the consumer price index will increase tremendously thereby cancelling out the increases. This just makes the middle to upper middle class folks poorer.

I think we need to concentrate more on universal healthcare, figuring out how to stop or slow illegal immigration, forgiving tuition loans and turning education in this country into a not for profit enterprise.

We can pay for anything we want. Money is just an idea. What’s the deficit at these days? Does it even matter?

Inflation matters.

The federal government can deficit spend

Your right but it does matter, but I think we got it completely wrong with the Fed mandate.

If we look at our biggest inflationary period which was the 70s and take that out that period and adjust models for that fat tail inflation event it doesn't exist, anywhere in our history. Know I always say adjust to fat tail events but I think we have adjusted and calibrated the models too much for the period.

Japan has been looking and been trying to create inflation since the 80s and has yet been able to.

We can run the printing press for a while just dont see how inflation will roar in like we think it will.

Only people talking sense in this topic. Some of these other fools need to read this book ASAP :russ:

Military budget needs to go way down and more/higher taxes for the wealthy. Taxing automation is also a very interesting idea.

This, M4A, and free/reduced cost public university is all possible.
Our military spending subsidizes the cost of military for many countries in Europe. Why do you think they can afford those social programs? Because they don't have to spend money developing and manufacturing equipment to protect their interests.
