I remember back in the mid to late 90's shyt a token used to be $1.25

So you talking about a 7-8% fare inflation rate per year when the fact is that inflation has not even been that much in the past 10 years:

US Inflation Calculator - 1996 to 2016 $1.25 would go up to $1.95 or so. Round it up to $2, not $3 like it's going to be in the next 2 years or so

And interest rates are rock bottom since '08 so you know their damn expenses not going up by that much
