i call bullshyt on this....some of these werent a threat to civil order or the union. maybe a threat to the status quo but thats it

All it needed was for J Edgar Hoover to think they were a threat and they were a target. Both capitalist Marcus Garvey and socialist Stokley Carmichael came under his glare as well as DuBois (even before he became communist), MLK, and anyone else in the Civil Rights movement. In other words, if you weren't a happy shuffling darky, you could be suspect.
