How come AAs and West Indians have the same first names?

Im talkin bout typical black names like Tyrell, Jermaine etc.

Theyre different cultures that emerged from different slave colonies aint they?
Perhaps the names originate from the african tribes they come from?
Or one copied the other

Because African American names aren't really indigenous to African Americans, because they come from other cultures. The name Jerome is French and spelled like this jerôme but since we don't have the 'ô' in our alphabet we don't use it.

Being a descendant of Islanders/West Indians myself, I know that a lot of the names of people in my family are either b*stardizations of the names of saints or names that were clearly inspired by African names.
