How come Airbenders never got second abilities

Earth benders got metal bending

Fire benders got lightning bending

Why couldn't Airbenders get something? Also shouldn't lightning be an airbenders second ability?

But fire benders can do that too . They be using their fire to propel themselves like jets.

I never made it through Korra and didn't see every episode of Avatar, but for the most part all of the secondary bending techniques are just logical extensions of the primary element. Bloodbending is still manipulating a fluid. Metalbending is kinda self explanatory. If you look at firebending as controlling the flow of energy to create fire, lightning bending would be controlling the flow of electrical impulses that go through the body - which would suggest why when firebending it's a more aggressive martial art

You'd need to think up what it would be for airbending and I don't really think there is one.

Zaheer the gawd did all of that except for freezing which sounds interesting but Water benders could already do that When Zaheer bodied the earth queen

They can't sustain it for long and it's not really worth it until Sozin's comet is passing through.

IMO Airbending can get just as aggro as firebending. Airbenders could just cut mofos in half.
