AZ, talent wise and as an overall lyricst and straight up spitter is top 10 all time, just off raw ability. I'm just talking about the straight up elements of being a rapper, AZ is a fukking beast.
Like everyone said though, he just didn't put enough music out and put himself out there as an artist. It always seemed like rapping was just like a side hustle to him. I don't know what the dude was doing but A was never consistently dropping music, videos, doing features and he was never "big", although he did have a few hits in the 90s wit the Firm and a couple solo joints but so did plenty of other artist during that time period. That was the golden era of hip hop. He just never adjusted with the times going into the 2000s, although Aziatic is one of the greatest albums of the 2000s. AWOL and The Format were pretty decent too but just lackluster production. AZ has a lot of good music and it's evident because we are still talking about him today and he is mentioned among some of the greats but he just never had enough consistent quality material to "blow" up. Still one of my favorite rappers of all time in my personal top 10 ever but I always felt like he had so much more as an artist to offer and we never saw it. Kinda like Rasheed Wallace type deal. Great baller, an all-timer but he could have been even better and accomplished more, if he had the right desire.
