Culture, American values are based on white supremacy, racism and money. If you look at it the groups further away are usually more family oriented.

I donno if I can just apply superficiality and materialisticity to just blacks and whites. Plenty of Asians, Indians and Hispanics like nice materialistic items, dine in expensive upscale restaurants, spend money traveling, enjoy high end labels, etc.

Now Mexicans here do tend to have around 8-10 dudes staying in one home. But they saving money doing this so really this makes them smart because they have more money to use for other means.

Americans are consumers. Whites have held the wealth and have flaunted it since forever. When blacks progress financially we too want to enjoy the finer things.

Because when you have a history of only being considered poor, lower class, peasant like people, when you get money, the only option is to flex.

And this phenomenon isn't confined to Black Americans; Russia, India, Nigeria, China, UK, Arab Nations, places where there was (or still is) a social hierarchy and new money is readily available, you'll see a lot "ostentatious" or "garish" purchases from nikkaz who came up.
