I am black, the reason I posted it was just a question because everyone is quick to say black people take up the oppressors religion and how you defile yourself sleeping with white women etc......so it was valid to ask why then participate in the same language.

I do think it would be good for us to adopt our own languages and maintain it. Like spanish communities Japanese and Chinese. Am currently working on Swahili myself.
But English as has been commented on gets the majority of its root words from African, moorish, Arabic Latin origins.
But African Americans are unique in that all these other immigrants that have come over voluntarily got to maintain their native tongue. We did not. You couldn't possibly comprehend the damage that does to a people

Now imagine a nice white couple being snatched from their home. Plopped dead in the heart of Africa surronded by nothing but black peoples told can't speak English must learn Swahili / oh and don't read or write. There aren't any schools or Rosetta stone cd's. In spite of all that they learn the language teach their children and then they do the same/ generations go by and someone asks one of the offspring hey why the f*ck don't you speak any English? Why didn't you search out on your own and learn it? Why didn't you creat a community of English speakers for yourself in this foreign land since we've been so hospitable

English is Germanic/French latin. I doubt it's root words would come from those languages when it was already matured before moorish invasion. Maybe you're thinking of Spanish, which has some Arabic influence? But even then, for the basis of the root words to come from those languages would mean that it derives from it, which again, it doesn't. It's a completely different language origin. I do agree with the rest of what you say. We haven't had the luxury of maintaining a second native language; English is ours now.

"ENLIGHTENMENT" of Europe or since we are discussing words how about "DISCOVERY" of Europe. I know you didn't infer anything by that, but when people of darker tones accomplish anything it's usually a negative connotation attached to it, but not the same with Anglo Saxons. But it's debatable some favor heavily Germanic roots/ study as well who taught them and whether or not you believe all Romans were "white"

American English is a gumbo of languages if you will.
