Drake doesn't really make street music at all, and he gets a pass because people don't take him as seriously as someone like J Cole.

Knife talk isn't really street music it's more like a caricature of it.

you can make songs about having your heart broken and never even been in a relationship. You make music for people to consume, not as a verification of your life

The problem with this logic is nobody is gonna try to kill you for making a song about a broken heart. People will press you for rapping about street shyt, though.

Drake mastered the art of saying something you know isn’t true but it’s not too farfetched for him to do

Like I doubt Drake is getting nikkas dropped but we can’t say he isn’t because he surely has the money and status to get it done

So does Bill Gates but nobody wants to hear him do drill music.

A child actor that grew up in the suburbs of Canada rapping about street shyt is patently ridiculous. Regardless of his money and status.

People let it slide because they have far more to gain from collaborating with him than trying to "expose" him. Not saying it's right, but I understand.

I’m not saying it should be the central theme of your music and rapper identity like a street rapper but what does it hurt for someone like Cordae or Wale to make a street song every now and then

Meeks never been
I always felt Drake gets a pass on the tough guy talk because he's Canadian.

If Drake was American and was talking like that, he'd get exposed big time and checked easily.
What are you talking about? I can tell meek have never been in a fight before

Anways what does it really mean to be from the streets in 2021? All these streets dude be acting up on social media anways :deadmanny:

Meek lived the street life, Drake didn't. Drake himself even said that after the beef.

We ain’t talking about whether or not the nikkas really doing it though I’m just pointing out why he can get away with it and other rappers like J. Cole can’t

And truthfully I’m sure Cole could do the same too but at least Cole is drawing inspiration from actual events, so there’s always gonna be some authenticity to what he’s saying and I can respect that

I guess they just know their lane and don't want to it?

The pluses don't really outweigh the minuses for something like this.

You don't even know what you are saying. AR-AB co-signed Meek was rolling in the streets.

But Drake? If he was American, cats would be testing him. Since he's Canadian, he's looked at differently.

Nas did that, bunch of people in the 90s did. Then somewhere people started demanding that people should live their lyrics, instead of it being art
