Are you specifically talking about male R&B?
even someone like lucky daye would’ve been much bigger 10 years ago
The sad truth is that there is not much demand for male singers in the mainstream.people prefer rappers and rap is so diverse now you get everything when you click on a rap playlist
Yeah I'm talking about male r&b artists, but even more so specifically that archetype of r&b artists that make traditional r&b music.
This climate isn't conducive especially for male r&b artists that are looking to be spiritual successors of the ushers, chris browns,r Kelly, Joe, tank, Donnell jones of the world.
The Bryson tiller type hybrids are doing fine.
Because r&b isn't where it's supposed to be commercially, a lot of these dudes ceiling will be low even if they do have the talent to be more.
