Yup. He's from Texas. It's a very colorist/racist place. Especially his generation. He supposedly has traumatic experiences with darker folks.
It was draining and annoying to be around. He visited us twice. He brought it up all the time. He would ask to speak to me on the phone but I would brush my mom away.
I was browner when I was younger (caramel), but darker than both of my parents so it didn't make me feel comfortable despite him making me an exception.
He told my mom to stay with my dad while knowing my dad wasn't good to my mom and told her to not be with a dark skinned man either. But she did after my dad. lol
