When he dropped SlaughtaHouse, we thought Ace was one of the dopest MC's around back then. Around '93-'94, he was dropping b-sides and remixes left and right that were all crazy. He couldn't lose.
I think the Sittin' on Chrome album kinda changed how people saw him. And I remember, Lord Digga and UG from Cella Dwellas talking about this too. People felt like he was trying to hop on some West Coast shyt, at a time when the East was kinda beefing with the West. And the album was dope, but he caught a lot of flack for that. He lost his deal after that album and his whole crew broke up and he vanished for like 6 years. Which is forever in Hip Hop. I think that's what hurt his legacy. When he came back with Disposable Arts, music had changed so much, and people seemed to have forgotten about him and moved on. He came back as basically an indie underground artist and made new fans and seemed to have lost his old ones. He's had a weird career, but he's still a legend.
