he was never a top tier athlete to begin with and used dribble moves and post ups to score, and that can carry you well into your 30s like Paul Pierce. But dude doesn't even look like an NBA player anymore. What the hell happened?

Father Time is undefeated (expect for LeBron who still looks like a 22 year old)

Wade, Melo, Kobe, Dirk, TD, KG, they all turned flabby in their late 30s and can’t be in shape like the young guys.

Bron probably has the GOAT genes. Scientists need to study him

he's still in his early 30s

He's a volume scorer that needs to put up a bunch of shots to get in rhythm. Hard to do that as the third option on your team. Plus he had the knee surgery so whatever athleticism he had is gone(and he could stand to lose 20 lbs).

He could still probably put up 20-22PPG on awful efficiency if a team wanted him to, but who would want that? The game has passed him by.

Outside of the obvious conditioning issues, he never invested in any other part of the game. Pierce at least could play passable defense, was clutch and had high BBIQ. What does Melo do to impact the game besides score? He never added anything else besides scoring and now that that first step is gone, if he can't pull up on you he's useless. Those of us who weren't blind Knicks fans saw this coming years ago. He's an 8th man on a legit team now

he's never shot below 42% before this season and has shot above 48% from the field in multiple seasons. I wouldn't call that inefficient. you can take as many shots as you want if you are making nearly half.

he played a whole NBA season, how didn't he get in shape?

Breh how much effort do you see Melo putting into the total game? :mjlol:

It's a difference in having decent enough conditioning to play and being in great physical shape with elite conditioning. He never made an effort to be in elite condition

I always liked Melo, but he is one dimensional. I said he was a poor mans PF version of Lou Williams, but even though Lou isnt a great defender, he can pass. Something Melo was never good at. Elite players in the league (not elite specialists) should avg 5apg IMO. he never did that once and only came remotely close to doing it one time. also he has lost some athleticism and without that, he no longer is the matchup nightmare he used to be.
