How come people pretend that Drew Brees chose New Orleans over Miami?

Eh. Brees hit FA and was a 25 TD/15 INT player at the time with a career threatening shoulder injury.

Basically Eli Manning. That's sounds blasphemous but we have to remember him BEFORE the Saints. He wasn't that good.

He was amazing in 04 and in college. people knew this.

Naw he was nice on the Chargers too

The Chargers gave up on him too early but once they drafted Rivers Brees became became a really good qb

Hes the reason Rivers sat his first couple years and they were talking about possibly trading Rivers before Brees got hurt in his contract year

To be fair, I don't think anyone saw Drew Brees becoming what he became in New Orleans.
A dude coming off that kind of injury who was just 30-28 as a starter in San Diego....80 TD, 53 INT

Let's be real, he wasn't a bum but did you really think he'd churn out 5,000 yard passing seasons back then?
Before he got to New Orleans he never even threw for 4,000.

NO was a good mix of luck and fit.

I certainly didn't. Even in Cillege I thought he was meh. He showed me.

There was nothing that jumped out at me. Just a solid QB.
Drew Brees was one of the best players in Big Ten history. He stood out from his very first start at Notre Dame. To each his own, though.

He was clearly good but I wasn’t watching him like “wow”
