How come Phife Dawg never put out a solo album during Tribe's run?

Been on A Tribe Called Quest kick lately and realized this nikka was wreckin shyt

Tip, and ali would have had to craft a helluva carry job on the boards. Seeing as tip not really great bar to bar. Unless tip trying to lil boi phife in the mic tho.
So it would have been even rougher to make a phife solo record.

Phife and tip are strictly group emcees not solo acts.

He had real health issues with his kidneys. Maybe the prospect of writing, recording, and especially touring alone was too much of a daunting task.

The Tribe documentary really shed a light on how much the group dynamic was a huge part of all of their success. Yes Q-Tip was always destined to be a star but the group was always his foundation, as it was for all of them.

Neither Tip or Phife put out solo albums during tribe's run. But when Phife released his solo album in 2000, it sounded closer to Tribe's sound than Amplified.
