How come Stacey Dash didn’t have the career Halle Berry had?

How we defining a generation here? They all around the same age (Nia snd Jada younger) and they all came to my young horny attention around the same time. Halle aint even blow up like that until the late 90s, early aughts anyway.

Easy when did they start?
Stacy was doing major movies in the 80s
Halle was leading tv series in the 80s

Jada started acting in the 90s with a new different world and vivica and Nia started in the 90s as well. It's clear they are different fen of actors

Because, she didn't do many "black films" (alot of actress black and Latino for some reason, build up their resume doing black movies before making the the leap to A list. Attractive ones at least. The ones the stay entirely in the white film industry usually are cast as uglier matronly black women,
Her personality type is better suited for the career that Viola Davis had, But she is far too attractive to be cast in those roles. and not good enough an actress.

If she wanted to be as big as Hallee, she should have auditioned for some wesley snipes movies, or tried to get into some spike lee films

Not really she was a child actress and did movies for everyone.

She is probably in a bad spot though because she had too big a name to go below scale with Indy's which priced her out of a lot of roles. No way was she going to take a step back to do a Friday, which had nothing but tv folks and beginners.

That said she looked younger than she is, so she couldn't really get casted in roles for her age because she was playing a teenager in her late 20s.

Just a bunch of weird shyt and time frame issues and lack of a push from those in power.

Also as Nia Long claims, studios often reject recognizable black actresses in major films with black leads, to avoid the moniker of being a black film.
So they not getting cast opposite WIll smith or Denzel in big budget films like Men in Black or something.
So their only recourse is the viola davis route, or life on the chitlin circuit.
You not gonna get those catwoman ,charlie Angles or avatar roles as a black actress most of the time unless racially you look like a white woman with a tan, like Halle, or Zoe Zaldana

That's the only difference. She is a far superior actress than Halle.

We doing some stretching with major Being in something =/= being a star. Sam Jackson was in Coming to America. But it was a bit part and most folks aint know him until the 90s. That said Boyz in the Hood and season 5 of ADW dropped in 91. 2 years after Halle's 3 week series and 3 years after "Moving". And I acknowledged they were younger than the others.

This is my point though, She step back from those roles prematurely imo.
She should have continued doing that stuff until an actual big break presented itself. Clueless wasn't it. that was just a popular teen movie
