How Come the Blazers are underachieving?

they overachieved last year...what they are doing now is who they are...

actually they didn't even overachieve...they benefited from a lot of things that happened to other teams that allowed them to have a much better record than they should have

I get that. But their players have gotten better individually. But for whatever reason it just hasnt translated onto the court.

they are not that great, all these talents are something that plenty of nba teams have. Rockets got their shyt together, utah they finna make some noise in the west, grizzlies when healthy are much better too. the highest blazers can go is 7th seed (if okc start struggling majorly) which is early 1st round exit either way, 7th or 8th seed. They have high chances of missing playoffs too cause Pelicans are having a run and kings are not that behind either.

Blazers play no defense, thats the end of the story. If your backcourt is undersized you better make sure that backourt has defensive specialists (like celtics) or you better have defensive bigs. Blazers got neither of those 2

You make a good point. The Rockets, Grizzlies and Jazz are all better and play with more cohesion than the Blazers do. But talent for talent, from top to the bottom. The Blazers have a more talent roster than those teams. they lack the impact player of a Gobert or Gasol or a Harden. But their parts should be producing better results

I disagree with that assertion. If you want to say that they are undisciplined or just flat out a poor defending team i can see that. But not lack of talent.

Their backcourt is in the top 3 league wide
Their wings are all long, versatile and skilled
Their bigs are all high iq, skilled and good finishers around the basket

They should right in the mix contending for a 4-5 seed.

Their backcourt is a top 3 scoring backcourt that cant defend.

A lot of NBA teams have long, versatile, and skilled players.

Aminu hasnt been very good. But Crabbe on the other hand has been sensational.

I dont disagree about their defensive deficiencies. I just dont see how its been that bad that the're sitting 5 games under 500

They overachieved based on CJ and Dame. They need better bigs if they wanna be a real contender...might have to separate Dame and CJ

their backcourt D isnt great but the real problem is their lack of big men. plumlee / leonard are complete trash. they dont have anyone they can throw the ball into to get points when dame and CJ arent hitting, they need a big who can get his own shot. not to mention defend. they probably have the worst bigs in the league
