How come the NBA doesn't have more "Incentive" based contracts like the NFL?

I know we talk a lot about all these shytty contracts and GM's, but does the CBA prevet incentive based deals like how the NFL has?

like you get a certain amount for your contract, but can get bonuses for winning ships, year end awards, all nba, or MVP's.

Just a thought.

they did get bent over with that last CBA tho. Owner's probably could have gotten them to agree on this too.

Guaranteed contracts and the owners are still passing out 100MM contracts all day :whew:

NFL Players are getting their brains scrambled with non guaranteed contracts and incentive and backloaded contracts for hall of famers. :why: GOAT players begging for commentary jobs because they have to pay for medical bills that the league don't cover.

as a fan the nfl is better but as a player? :usure:

:whoa: NBA has gone from no cap and you can pay guys whatever for however long to a cap, a max salary, 5 year max deals, and hyper-restrictive luxury tax in the last 30 years. Not exactly what I would call strong. :ld:

You gotta look at the nature of the sport though. It would be impossible to to guarantee every NFL contract with all of the injuries you have. Beyond that you have a roster of 50+ vs. a roster of 15. If you ball and stay healthy in the NFL there is really no limit to what you can get paid. Top NFL contracts have been on the rise the last two decades meanwhile top NBA contracts are actually lower. It's a matter of high risk/high reward in the NFL vs. lower risk/limited reward in the NFL. Manning will make more money in his career than Bron will make in his. It is better to be a mid-level guy in the NBA though. Can't really argue with that.

Greedy owner propaganda bullshyt.

Its true. And if players get hurt they should only be paid half until they get back. Incentive to get back faster and not milk injuries like Bynum

not at all.

Do you want a have's vs have nots like in baseball?

The NFL revenue is through the tv contracts and that's distributed evenly.
