How come the NBA doesn't have more "Incentive" based contracts like the NFL?

not at all.

Do you want a have's vs have nots like in baseball?

The NFL revenue is through the tv contracts and that's distributed evenly.

As a fan, NFL > MLB > NBA (how they have such little parity with a cap blows my mind)

As a player MLB >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NBA >>>>>>>> NFL

Being a Tigers fan is way less painful, however, than a lions or pistons fan...{You F'd Up} because the owner cares. Even with the worst season in history on the books..RECENTLY.

You support MLS over EPL and La Liga .......:whatever:

This is not the proper thread to have this discussion.

not at all.

I don't see what that has to do with not having guaranteed contracts.

No worse than capping individual salaries and contract lengths and instituting a super restrictive luxury tax system. :ld:

That's bad, but this is far worse. NFL cap doesn't have a tax option at all.

At least with capped salaries, you know how much you're making and the team can't weasel their way out of their obligations.

.

there's a reason why the NFL is the most popular sport...it sucks for the players at the bottom of rosters when compared to other sports...but as a fan its what makes it interesting every year.

The stars in the NFL see a lot of guaranteed money. But what makes the league awesome is the cap and the draft....two things that really hinder guys making their true market worth.

Teams do it all the time (see Joe Johnson) and now it's even easier with trade exceptions. The salaries are not growing the NBA and top players are forced to accept below marekt value, as a matter of fact there is no market value :heh:. There is no way to rationalize salaries not growing and guys being limited as to what they can make as a sign of strength for a union.

there are incentive clauses in nba contracts. maybe not everyone has them and they might not be worth much in comparison to their base pay but they do exist.

Because the nbapa isnt a pathetic and weak organization.

have you looked at the top 10 highest paid players in the league??

NBAPA stance is a short-term view. In the long term NBA would have greatly benefited from same type of salary structure as the NFL. more competition = more ratings and more money eventually :manny:

TYRONE GA!
Its true. And if players get hurt they should only be paid half until they get back. Incentive to get back faster and not milk injuries like Bynum

Soundin kinda Cac-ish there bruh... :lookherebruh:

What about MLB players? You NEVER hear that shyt for them? :usure:

Yea as a player the nba is by FAR the best. Baseball is basically like a regulatr job with bp and 162 game season. Give me the nba any day.

And the nfl union literally could not be more pathetic. I see them as a major cause of what people perceive as the sport's inevitable decline.

Personally I think every league is a trust and think salary cap should be eliminated with more revenue sharing

Every league should cut pay until they get back.

Get hurt=half pay
Come back to practice=3/4 pay
Come back to games=full pay

Hold out=no pay

This might be the worst idea ever :scusthov: so you get hurt playing for your team your reward is no pay?? :what: most people aren't loafing or milking injuries. So do you feel jobs should eliminate sick days too? And only pay you to work . You want the players to just except any contract the owner gives them in a successful sport that has multiple billion dollar teams ! Peyton manning clearly milked that neck fusion huh and rondo faking that leg injury

you cant compare regular jobs to sports....athletes get paid millions and dont have to do shyt except for 3 hours a night/day every couple days they are a different category for pay

if they get hurt and will miss the rest of the season which could be over half why should the owners have to pay for the athlete not doing shyt. the athletes wages are so high that they could be cut in half when they are not doing anything and still be ok and like i said it will make the 75% who get hurt and milk it come back faster. how many older athletes esp do you see getting paid 12 million a year to only play 1/3 of it sometimes less

if i had it my way athletes would be paid in segments during the season. for the NBA you will get paid 20 games at a time 3 times a year if you cant play the other 62 you dont get paid.

It is a job:leostare::ufdup:
You just sound like a hater honestly . You don't know how much work the players put in on they craft , you do know you have to practice and watch game film , and work out in the offseason . You can feel for billionaire owners having to pay these greedy players ( who happen to be the product that sell ) ? You know the real reason it's different than a regular job ? These guys brig way more value to a office than a paper pusher at a office . Millions of people can do your Job but only 450 people can play in the nba. The way the job market works is The more specialized the skill set the higher your pay.

Not to mention your allowing owners to Not be competitive since they make money either way
