How come the NBA doesn't have more "Incentive" based contracts like the NFL?

because if you're better than above-average, another squad will give you all the guaranteed money you want.

Nene's injury prone ass would probably still be in a Nuggets uniform if we worked in games played incentives in his contract, but the problem is the Pacers, Nets and few other shytty franchises were willing to give him the max with no strings attached. :ufdup:

For cap purposes isn't there some distinction made between realistic incentives. So that if something as simple as games played still counts towards the cap?

it does but you have cheap ass teams like the bucs and cardinals that are always under the cap, so its not always competitive. It should go both ways. They should have a number on how much a team has to spend if they have a cap.

With the new CBA, starting this year teams do have a minimum percentage of the salary cap they have to.
