...aaand here is the issue.

EDM is the repackaging/rebranding of House.
With EDM, they're trying to do a whole lot of consolidating of something that's not that simple.
There are too many sets/sub-genres to Underground Party Music to do that.

What i'm saying is, say you have a DJ who's been doing House music for 20 years.
Then one day, brand new muthafuccers come out doing what you and calling it something else.
You just gonna call what you do something else? Probably not. But because of that, you're probably
not gonna get invited to play their Reindeer Games.
Bingo.

They often get lumped under hiphop. Kaytranada is essentially EDM/House but he's listed as a hiphop act
This is thew problem.
white DJs are listed under EDM
The entertainment industry and the media do it's best to brush any black artist under the "hip-hop" label even if they don't make hip-hop specifically, just because they are black.

Too many white people

When that's the case nikkas turn the other way
The worst thing about EDM, is that promoters in Vegas will have EDM nights/...just to make sure black people don't attend the club that night.
:francis:

And there was this promotion group called Verboten (which closed due to the owners own greed, with cases of embezzlement, unpaid employees, sexual harassment, the whole nine yards) and they opened up a club here in Brooklyn (that's now closed, was seized by the IRS).

One of the owner's was this white lady who got pissed at one of the bartenders there one night because black people started showing up to one party and she specifically said to her "we're not having black people parties here".

:francis:

White American racism is RUINING electronic dance music.

I could tell you more stories about what some of these white folks be doing with our music and culture...shyt will disgust you.

Not sure as to why there aren't a lot, but black people should definitely get in on it. It's easily one of the most uninspired genres (everybody copies eachother) and black people would easily take it to another level
I've been saying this. More black people should start getting into making EDM, especially producers, especially as producers in hip-hop are becoming a second thought and barely getting paid by gettiong finessed by rappers.

Rap might be the #1 genre of music in the world, but it's too steeped in negativity. I've been about that house music life. That dream.

Tour the world and play clubs and festivals and beach parties
Smashing model chicks in Ibiza, Berlin, Paris, London, and all other fine hoes
:blessed:
Doing instore DJ sets at record stores
Then playing on Rinse FM or BBCRadio1
Playing Bergahin
Playing panorama bar
:blessed:
Playing the chosen few festival in Chicago
DEMF in detroit
Ultra in Miami
Time Warp

MEanwhile rap nikkas basically getting paid and raped in 360 deals
Sharing the same hoes
Too much negativity and violence
Too much hood drama and street shyt involved

Atleast without music it's fun, uplifting and positive.

Tons of black EDM producers. The EDM world is very racist so they aren't going out their way to book black artist.
And you know what's fukked UP?

If you call out certain promoters, writers, club owners, etc out of this you'll just get the
full

From them.

They just want to party to black people music without any black people around.

The amount of ignorant shyt I've received from elitist white techno nerds who legit think I automatically don't know shyt about house, techno, electronica, etc...cause I'm black is disgusting.
How you know my own culture and history better than me?

YOU DON":T

Okay.
8 years ago I was doing this radio show on Pittsburgh radio on WRCT 88.3FM, this was when I first got my Serato unit. Basically it was a mixshow where I played house and techno for 2 and a half hours. They had Technicsn and a mixer there. So during this time, I got a gig at this club in Pittsburgh, I was the guest DJ they had two resident DJs. Two white cats, what they was playing was cool, then I come on and just smash the gig. I was invited to play again at that same club for new years 2010. shyt was cool. I come back to this club again, next time with my friend who I had a falling out with. The two resident DJs are there. I said "what's up" and they just hi-five my friend (who's white) and don't give me a hi-five. They even said it loud to my face with a smile "hey we're doing the WHITE GUY handshake!" :mjpls: it was so blatant.

And then when I was trying to do events afterwards and get work DJing, I would consistently get passed over. They were always booking white DJs. It eventually went to the point in Pittsburgh that it changed from me getting paid to play gigs there...to me doing open DJ nights for free (twice) at this one club for exposure just over the course of two years.
:francis:
That was around the time I graduated and I just said eff it and moved to NY.

Some of these festival lineups in EDM is all white...and they talk about "diversity" by adding white female DJs.
:francis:
how the fukk you gonna talk about "diversity" when there's just ONE color in the room?

Here's the thing tho, that's always existed. In the 90s Trance, Techno( outside of the Detroit guys and Dave Angel), Prog House, Big Beat was on 1 side. Soulful/Deep House, Jungle, Trip Hop, UK Garage was on the other side.

The thing I'm trying to impart to your is. We've always had our space within the so-called Dance music world. These EDM fest is just a continuation of that. We have our own festivals throughout the world. We have our own parties, our own radio stations, our own outlets.

Stop worrying so much bout their thing, that has never been for us in the first place.

We have our Soul Summits, Chosen Few, House Fests all over Jersey. We have our Wednesday nights at Cielo, Sunday nights at 18st Lounge(DC), House Fest in Baltimore, Deep Sugar(Baltimore) and so many other parties all over this country.

Every week I go out and party to House, and its nothing but Negroes(old and young)

Lets stop caring bout being invited to their parties. And fukk with our folks, who are and have been holding it down.

Trust me, I detest being at party with too much White folk.
