That's not necessarily true though, I generally agree with people getting dumber, but rap music progressed in just about every facet steadily from it's birth until the early/mid 2000s.

Attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. Kids today rather listen to mumbling on an 808s beat and and have people rap about drugs and lean in an uneducated way. They see intelligent boom bap and non party rappers as "weak" and "not in the streets" because they want to impress thots while being phased out of any worthy music discussions.

Alot of ya are missing what im talking about. This level that we are at now, hasnt been this low at any point in rap music.

It seems like in the recent years, that there has been a overall shift in rap music from lyrics and delivery to melody and production, stuff you can hum and sing and what not. I would say this shift is fairly recent tho, like 2013 and on.

I think Chief Keef and Young Thug are the one's who really kickstarted this shift. Motherfukkas dont even wanna hear words anymore.

Mumbling just killed off the purpose of rapping. You just taking up space on the track.
