How could you want a child that looks nothing like you?

I'd understand if you just said, "I dont want to mix my black genes with a white man's genes."

But you're saying the reason why you wouldnt want to have a child with someone white is because you dont think they could praise/appreciate/embrace black culture?

:francis:
It's the cultural aspects, definitely A white man can appreciate and embrace black culture but with the way things are now, he will still have a privileged position in society above me and his children unless his children are able to and decide to pass. If I have a son with a white man and that son comes out the same color as me (which is a possibility, but not a guarantee), is his father going to be able to explain and teach to him the nuances of being a black man in America? Will he be able to relate to that particular struggle. He can offer him some words of encouragement, he can express righteous anger that his son was violated, but will he really have that understanding? My children being ostracized by one side or both sides and not being considered black or white or Mexican enough, do I want to put them through that, especially having a limited understanding of being a biracial person in America? I might be being selfish about the whole thing, but there are too many variables to consider with something like this, just like there are variables I have to consider if and when I have children with a black man.

So did you equate white men with good men?

Or was it a fetish/fantasy thing?
Had to be a fetish thing because I never truly saw myself making a life with them. I might've said it to the one I dated, but I knew we weren't going to be man and wife.

Then again, I knew that me and a black man or me and a Latino weren't going to be man and wife either.

How did you know that you and a black or Latino man weren't going to work out long term?

Did/do you have lots of negative experiences with black men in particular?
