Everything I've heard about working on a cruise ship is that it's basically indentured servitude. They fly the flags of the nations with the worst labor rights so they can do anything to you. 14 hour, 16 hour, 18 hour shifts, no days off, terrible living conditions, terrible food, they hold onto your passport so you can't leave when you want, they withhold your pay over a month after you finish each month so that if you do decide to leave you're screwed out of more than a month's pay.

Oh, and for the women there's sexual abuse like crazy too, because they have basically no one they can go to at all.

And they lie like hell to workers to get them on board the ships. The average career of a cruise ship worker is something ridiculous, 9 months or something, cause they quit once they see through the lies and false promises.

I was in Vancouver for a couple months some years ago and met some people who did human rights work with cruise ship workers. Saw some of the interviews and the stories were brutal.

I've never been on a cruise and you won't catch me going on one ever.

Would you mind sharing details about your experience?

I went in 2010
When it was really hard to get jobs in my home state

Applied on careerbuilder and got called to a building downtown

Got the job after a really easy interview

It really affected me mentally because

A lot of ppl thought I was weird because I was quiet when it was a lot of weird nikkas there

Two white dudes got really out of pocket with me
One physically and the other said some slick shyt verbally
One of Em was my roommate and he hated me cuz I stole his phone charger...but I thought he stole mine and I was just stealing it back:russ:

But yea mostly it’s like you’re trapped in this little town
I hated most of the ppl there...I was cool with only a few

I started crying in the bathroom when a nikka I only semi liked went home

shyt kind of cemented to me that you need a sense of self and what you want put up with
And to not care if u cool with nikkas and to nip it in the bud early

One night before the captains inspection we was up 24 hrs straight
Lot of ugly bytches...only a few good looking ones
I rarely ate out and that’s how I moved to another state...by accident
I couldn’t take it no more and left a week with my own money when they would have paid for it

I knew another nikka that just stopped working and was chilling on the ship until we got back to port

I pretended to be sick one time so I could get quarantined in my room and get a day off...we worked 7 days a week

My roommate was like are you really sick I won’t tell...I was like yup
Cuz I know nikkas snitch

whole story got me dying...

that post could be created into like a 15 minute comedy short story and if creatively done i think it would be hilarious

im going to archive this post for when someone does it and claims it as their own

The luxury ones are nice. I did a Mediterranean cruise and it was dope as fukk.....mostly because I had excursions planned at every port and i got to visit a lot of dope places in a short period of time.
