Settle down and go for a walk. Depression is part desperation and fear of not being able to live or cope with life. Go find some trees, sit down and breathe. Life is that simple.

It seems like you need to be goal oriented
Make something to work for, whatever you like be the best at it
For example I like dragon ball z, so my motivation for helping people and going to the gym is seeing the things goku & co. Have done, thy put their life on the line countless times for the sake of humanity
But the point is just look at something you like and try to master it, sounds cliche but it works

You need to sit and be honest with the emotional pain you've endured up until now. Once your conscious of the pain and process it you can move on.
Sit and listen to whatever thoughts, emotion, anger and fears that come up. Realize you are the observer of these phenomenon, that is who you are. The conscious observer, nothing more. From this stand point you can detach yourself from the negative stimuli, observe what causes the cycle and create a new cycle.
