Ok that's it? Exactly. Plus those were old folks at bet who grew up with mike. The only black people defending him at that time were the diehards and those who were in the same age group with him. And plus they had to. Michael basically made bet. Your average everyday black American was clowning mike right along with white folks. Maybe it wasnt as hostile but it still was happening. Michael's reputation at the time was on par with bill Cosby's reputation now. Why do we have to lie about it

Black people were going harder on MJ than ANYBODY 03-09.
Another weak dap fish from Stringer
What's the spin? Nobody blinked an eye to the shyt then, and if somebody says otherwise, they lyin'.
The Mike shyt got very little press... it is what it is. I'm sure it's something to be regretted now, knowing in hindsight that MFs shoulda cared a lot more about MJ bein' respected, but it wasn't some widespread outrage from Black people about Eminem portraying MJ with a fake nose falling off in a video. I know we can all sit around now and act like in '04 we all united and jumped to Mike's defense, but I'll just put it like this: a lot of people remembered how much they really loved Mike on June 25, 2009. 2004? not so much.
And if only a handful of folks went up to bat for MICHAEL JACKSON in 2004, how many you think got defensive for Will Smith in 2000? The takeaway from this is that we should remember to always stand up for our greats when these white folks try to disparage them. But let's not pretend Mike wasn't catchin' all types of jokes by '04.
yup
Kat Williams ethered Mike during his stand up and nobody got offended at the time

he was a legend, he was our hero
“Not surprised, most folks are afraid to have an original opinion and simply flow with whatever the current zeitgeists says is acceptable to thinkAnd then in the next special after he passed he was “he was a legend, he was our hero
“
Keep that same energy Katt

MJ also ended up buying the company that owned the publishing rights to Em’s music
