Living in Chicago and being around the music scene here I'm convinced Chance the Rapper is a WBEZ plant engineered to counteract the whole GBE movement. That kid was pushed EXTRA HARD on NPR last summer. I've NEVER heard a rapper pushed that hard on a god damned news station like that.

And no, the target of that push was NOT rap listeners AT ALL. It was straight up Industry.

Man, I would make the same face whenever I'd hear them reporting on dude. The only place you heard about Chance here in Chicago was through NPR. I don't recall any other station giving play-by-play calls on his career like WBEZ was doing.

You might not know because WBEZ does not cater to the Coli crowd. But yeah, they were reppin' dude like he was the second coming of Christ.

Since when did NPR do weekly reports on a dude's mixtape downloads?

Nah it was organic. He jus a ATL rapper who hit a pop fly. Same thing with Migos.

No offense to downsouth cats, but they arent "crafty" or "sneaky" enough to do tricks like that. All their grind is pure and city based.
Did you see the breakfast club interview with dude right after all gold came out? Lol dude was hella shakey when they asked if he's signed...few days later Def Jam announce they signed dude, this within like a month of that video coming out. Nah im not buying it

The deal probably happened immediately after ALL GOLD blew up. He was prolly new as fukk to it all. And hopped on the first deal offered to him. Its the same ish with Migos. Like right now, they are signed to Atlantic Records, they did the deal right after Versace blew up.

Yet nobody really knows this, nor was it officially announced, and Migos are still dropping free songs and working on their new mixtape. Jus like James did.

Def Jam had no parts in blowing him up, they jus came and swooped him up after the hype.
