On Rap God, Em had a line calling himself "Rap Bot." And that's basically what it is -- he only now gives a fukk about rhyming orange with door hinge and cramming a zillion syllables in every song to ruin it musically. Combine that shyt with him simply being a Cac (no groove, soul, or rhythm) and you have a recipe for disaster. Some times, that robotic shyt works, like Gnat for example. I think that's one of the best songs he's done recently. But often times, it doesn't work like EMPD2 on Kings Disease 2. I think the first part of the verse was cool.. then..
When the beat changed, he started that rambling Cat In The Hat flow, the song went to hell. It's like he can't help himself be retarded on the track and rupture eardrums. When it comes to Black Americans who aint fukkin technical rap nerds, Phonte simply said it best, "Dope Beats, Dope Rhymes what more do yall want?!" Em raps on mediocre beats and has terrible subject matter and cringe worthy punchlines. You cant scream on an ALCHEMIST track "I HATE MY STEPDAD!!!" and expect us to consider you one of the best who's done it. It's an amusing song, yes. But it has no longevity.
Foreign flag blacks and Cacs love everything he does and it's obvious they dont know shyt about rap music, because he commits musical sins over and over again (for 20 years now) and they call him the GOAT.
Him being excellent or the goat is frustrating to read/hear because it's not rooted in logic. Em was my favorite rapper in high school, and now, almost 20 years later, I still fukk with his music but it annoys me that he's not living to his potential and growing with his audience. You can listen to 4:44 and know that while it's still Hov, he's clearly matured. Gnauze being able to drop a Store Run out of nowhere at this point in the game is amazing. What does Eminem fans have to be proud about in the last 20 years? Dude apologizes for his previous work on every damn album. He's aimless.
Lucky for him, he has the cac stimulus package pause because if he was black, it'd be over.
I digress..
Em has all the pieces to get some serious respect outside of stans and "I dont listen to rap but I like Eminem" muhfukas. He can obviously rap, he has made great music before. He's just lost his way or is unable to get off the path he's on because of the people above him or something. I dont know.
But I strongly believe he'd be on top if you gave relapse/refill flow em (sans the wack punchlines and cac heavy features he started with on recovery) better subject matter, a leader who's unafraid to check him and some solid black producers who have an understanding of music. Now, THAT Em would be a force to be reckoned with.
