How did men become the dominant gender?

Honestly. I'm asking. If we're equal ect. How the hell did we get on top. Hell, I read somewhere that xy is a genetic mutation? Why would nature create it? And how did a genetic mutation even become so prevalent that it became dominant through out history?

Edit: What sparked this question was an episode of Star trek nxg. Where Ryker visited a planet where women grew to physically be the dominant gender and males were smaller and more diminutive and I thought. How come that didn't happen here?

stronger bone density, strong muscle fiber, denser muscle mass, greater muscle elasticity, and etc.

In a physical contest, which is what humanity developed from, these traits allows for pretty easy distinguishing of who will be the dominant and who will be subservient.

Patriarchal religions created patriarchal cultures that designate the paternal bloodlines as the successors and inheritors. Physical strength tends to dominate across cultures, between races etc (whoever has the weapons makes the rules), so men became more powerful especially in the past when cultures dominated through war and aggression and military.
