Tattoos have exploded in popularity, and with that, so have sleeves.
A lot of people think it looks cool or edgy, damn near 1/2 of my class last year of Seniors have sleeves, as well as neck and hand tattoos.
I grew up on anime and Japanese movies, and I always thought full chest/back/sleeve pieces were really dope, but what was even cooler was that they weren't supposed to actually be seen. They were tattooed to be covered up by professional/traditional clothing.

The Navy helped popularise it here in the US, along with Japanese traditional.
I've thought about doing it, but I love my complexion too much.

How does anything that was once considered counterculture get popular?

Anyway I don't give a fukk who has tatts or not, all I care about is how good the art looks
