The battles would last for days, but the contact was sporadic. There may be an hour-long lull here and there but it would continue until reinforcments could arrive.
Boxing matches used to last for hours too :yeshrug:Imagine going 45 rounds bare-knuckle
No wonder life spans for men were so short :dwillhuh:

Read up on the Battle Of Stalingrad...them cacs were eating each other and dogs, horses and rats all that shyt....daily and literally. They froze in place in many instances.......in this one section of stalingrad, they battled for some factory for months, day and night.....stalin told them boys not to move back one inch....when they did, he told the generals there to kill all the ones that fled....then he had the general killed and replaced and they resumed fighting......
:what:

I always wonder how dudes went into sword battles. How the hell did you know who was behind you and how didnt you hit your friends by accident? That shyt had to be terrifying.

Formations. Take ancient Rome tactics for example. They weren't running around on some free-for-all shyt. Just lines of brehs with sword and shields holding on to each other listening for that whistle/horn blast to switch it up. :wow:

Hollywood glamorized sword fighting. In reality, alot of warriors back then used maces and axes. A sword will have a hard time piercing armor but, one hard swing from a mace would crush someone's chest, armor or no armor :mjcry:

Yeah and spears imo a heavily underrated weapon had noobs giving swordsmen that work.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I always wanted to ask cuz it was intreeged me.

Like I think the battle of gettysburg lasted like 4 days or some shyt, but how?

You can't tell me nikkas were fighting constantly for 4 days straight. Especially considered they were WALKING hundreds of miles with aarmy gear on before the battle even started so they were already tired af.

And how did they even know where to find each other at? Bacc then they aint have GPS or phones or computers so how did they know where to meet up to fight?
watch band of brothers

but to answer... shyt was in waves... if it was 1000 soldiers fighting... maybe 300 was shooting, 300 on artillery, 200 officers making plans... 200 catching a nap in the back

nikkas constantly rotating shifts to fight, go to medical, new soldiers coming in, nikkas getting killed and leaving

it wasn't like the same 100 guys stood on the front lines for 4 days straight with no sleep

I don't know but in the video reenactments they show these dudes running across the fields into each other while theyre shooting at each other with looney tune cannon balls and rifles, I always see it and think why the fukk would anyone just run into that :why:

Made no sense to me
old school gentleman warfare was fukking retarded. white people marched head to head just shooting at each other because it was how warfare evolved from old days and once they got guns they kept it up, cuz white people were sorta bytches to their masters too. it was like you're fighting for some baron or prince, he's paying you, walk in a line and hope you dont get knocked off. aside from all the help the us got in the revolutionary war guerrilla "ungentlemanly" war tactics really helped the us out against the stand in line all the time british. the civil war kinda brought it back though. with a good tactician you can still whoop ass in a straight line advance. hunker down behind a stone wall and bust

there were all sorts of styles of war from all over im talking the franks and whatnot western euros brits/french.

Modern urban warfare is crazy scary. I read that during the Battle Grozny the Chechen rebels would underground and sewers to pop up behind Russian lines. Imagine you a Russian soldier in a building and out of nowhere some 6 rebel soldiers pop out and throw grenades at you and start shooting at you.

I got a book on that conflict\war.

I read a bit so far, but I was shocked about the shyt they pulled with the Chechen people over the generations.

Craziest part about it is that will never know what those wars truly looked like :wow:
We can only go by what Hollywood shows us.

Imagine if they had gopro cameras, digital cameras back then?
Imagine all the blood, limbs flying every where.
