I've been working in my current field for a while. I've tried to be patient but I had to start being honest with myself and accept this field isn't for me and doesn't make me happy. The only thing really keeping me is that the pay is fairly good and the benefits are there
I would like to stay under the STEM umbrella for my career but just NOT what I do now. I know a lot of times when people choose another career path people say "follow your interests." The issue I'm having is that I've been in this particular job/field for so long I don't really have a clue what else I can do with my skill set. The work seems pretty specialized and I sometimes have difficulty thinking outside of that box
Of course there are things that I have interest in (travel, culture, writing, art, etc.) but they are very far removed from STEM. I am also concerned about making a career change and it messing up the bag
Anyone have any advice/tips/resources for how you found your own path?
