So I did two years overnight (it was an experimental thang) in the mid 2000s. Virgin Megastore (anyone remember those?), the one here in Chicago.

I basically replenished music and DVD stock, put out new releases, set up displays and end caps, etc. I’d bring movies to play in the DVD room while I worked, which was cool. Worked at my pace but nah I was still tired throughout. I’d walk into a fixture every now and then. I’d be sitting Indian style on the floor up stocking product...yea I’d dose off every now and then, but fukk it. Wake back up, continue up stocking. Fall asleep during my “lunch” break...yeeea I’d occasionally oversleep past my time to go back, but f it. Get up, clock back in, work. I’d talk on the phone sometimes, listed to Crazy Howard McGee in the morning during my last hours. Heard plenty of Trapped in the Closet and Lil Wayne’s Go DJ.

Third shift was horrible for me, tho. I’m not a day sleeper like that. I’d get 4-5 hours of sleep at most daily. I’d crash at times when coming home, without brushing my teeth. Think that shyt accelerated some of my current periodontal issues...I’ll take regular ass shifts anytime.

I do UPS overnight. I found that sleeping through the afternoon then waking up and getting ready for work to be much better then sleeping through the AM hours and then counting the hours till work. It gets dark fast in the winter here so when i used to sleep through the AM hours it felt like i didnt get to see the sun and that was fukking up my internal clock and made me sick.

I did a 2pm to 2am for about a year and that shyt was lovely.

Easy office work chillin with my potna and a couple female co-workers and a supervisor who didn't care, and messing with the drivers as they came in and out. Would get high after most everyone cleared out after 8. Lotta weed smoking. Gotta lotta p*ssy too. The only bad thing was the days were Tu-Sat with Sun and Mon off, and it used to be tough on Thur, Fri and Sat seeing all the females come in between 5-7pm and hearing them all talk about going out and shyt and I couldn't do anything.

It's an underrated work time frame IMO

I worked an 11-7 shift for 3 straight years doing warehousing for a computer manufacturer. I loved every minute of it :ehh:

At work benefits were better pay, lighter workload, laid back environment, talking to lonely female coworkers all night :shaq:

Time flew. I'd be on my way home before I knew it. There was no better feeling than having a sunroof open in the morning at driving home listening to some jams especially on payday :blessed:

If you have the energy you can really can take advantage of free time during daylight hours while others are at work. Go sign paperwork, pay bills, having a side hustle or go to school, make sure your bank acct straight, car maintenance, home maintenance, grocery/clothing shopping, single moms with kids at school in that grocery store:shaq:

At the extreme latest I would wind down comfy in bed around 4-5pm when everyone else is getting off work and trying to run the same errands and tasks that I did earlier in the day:win:

Wake up around 930. Sometime hit the snooze until 10:demonic: Shave, shower, eat. Out the door at 1030. Back to the money

I Work 7p to 7a for the last 8 years. Only work 3 days a week so I’m off more than on. I bunch my days together when doing my schedule so I get long stretches off. Almost like many vacations. Sometimes I work 6 days in a row so I can get 8 off in a row.

But it does suck at times. When your most awake everyone else is sleep unless you flip your sleep schedule. But constantly flipping your sleep schedule can fukk you up. Only things open at 1 am is walmart and mcdonalds.
