How Different Does CP3’s Career Go If That Laker Trade Actually Goes Through?

We're debating different things.

All I'm saying is with someone else who can run the offense, Kobe probably doesn't need to kill himself at the end of the season
I mean.. Nash got hurt. I like Nash more than CP3 honestly. It was just a bad year. Howard played like trash.

Kobe’s Achilles injury probably never happens if that’s the case. He wouldn’t have been scoring and facilitating for 40+ minutes. Also, Dwight would’ve been utilized better had the trade gone down which was the original vision to begin with.

People say it wouldn’t work but Kobe by that point was much more mature and Chris Paul for all his bullshyt would’ve been in no position to try to show up a 5 time champion on his own team. I feel like that team would’ve sent Kobe off with one more title. Would’ve been crazy if we went from that to signing LeBron and eventually signing and trading for AD. It’s conceivable that things could’ve still panned out that way. Oh well…

Kobe and CP got along great. They probably get a chip right before the Miami Big 3 hits their stride.

The real discussion isn't about what it would do for CP3's career (he's still an All timer), but how the Kobe-Jordan discussion gets shaped.

If Kobe gets 6 with CP there would be a lot of uncomfortable discussions. Because Kobe would have won in multiple eras with the same franchise AND different roster makeups.

If that trade goes down we finally get to see the Kobe vs Bron finals and Kobe probably doesn't rupture his achilles next season because he wouldn't have to do so much scoring with CP3 being in that backcourt.

Chris also was never a selfish player so he'd definitely co-exist with Kobe.

I don't think they get Dwight though. What would that salary cap be like with Chris, Kobe and Pau?

he gets a ring for sure unless kobe gets injured
but oh well, he was up 2-0 against the Bucks who had never even really been that deep in the playoffs
Phoenix had the better squad that year too

They were up 2-1 and up like 5 points going into the final quarter in game 4
Then they were up 16 in the first quarter at home in game 5 and lost.
Then in game 5 they were up at half and got boddied in the second half

They choked. Plain and simple

In 2K CP, Kobe, and Dwight is unbeatable. In real life those two drive Dwight up a wall, the chemistry is even more fukked up, and he still leaves. Then with those 2 remaining, you dont have significant cap room and you got all your money tied up in a backcourt with a 34 year old and a 6'er that is injury prone. Great backcourt if you can build around it but that wasnt an option due to all that you would have to give up to get Chris (and Dwight).

I don’t see it. They’d have possibly been relying on a frontcourt built around a guy whose knees couldn’t handle a trip to the bowling alley and would probably have been capped out after Kobe & Paul. Hard to see a scenario where they’d have beaten the spurs or thunder in 2012 or 2013 and it would’ve been nuts to rely on Kobe as their top scorer with limited cap space beyond that. I don’t see how they’d have beaten the warriors either.
