if yall wanna keep it on if Kobe never got hurt, ok cool. I was pissed when Stern rescinded that shyt.

but Boston and Miami were hella disciplined on the other side. would have been dope to see.

Defense was the only thing in question. Mainly perimeter defense. Dwight, even as he was beginning to rack up injuries, was a great anchor in the paint. But offensively, there’s no doubt in my mind that that trio would’ve flourished.

They would’ve addressed the defense imo. If we get CP3 they would’ve been able to properly build around him and Kobe and eventually Dwight.

Instead the trade got rescinded and we had to trade LO for nothing, fukked up all our motion.

I mean yeah eventually, but at first it might’ve been rough and we prolly would’ve relied on Dwight a lot more. If Ron still had something left in the tank at that time we would’ve been straight.

Yea I forgot the trade was made right after the lockout. Not really a proper offseason to fill out a squad.

You dont know that. This based on what pieces were there and not there based on trade and injury.
Whole thread is based on a hypothetical, saying someone doesn't know defeats the purpose of everything in here.

I think CP3 gets a ring and realizes there's more to winning than always being right in an argument. There are tons of great leaders who get in their own way thinking being right validates their leadership status.

Imo this is why all of Jordan AND Kobe rings came with Phil Jackson, it was a good cop/bad cop balance they worked out. Without Phil there guys would've hated being around those two after a while, Phil punching Pau Gasol in his chest is more impactful to Pau than if an angry Kobe does it, that nikka was always on 10, alot of coworkers/employees will shut down on you if you always on they neck and reminding them how right you are about things

It's like when you're trying to train a pet, they always learn quicker through praise for good deeds, not punishment for bad deeds, just breeds resentment after a while regardless of how you slice it.

Only a small handful of players are campaigning for a cp3 return and that speaks volumes :francis:

Unless Bynum's health issues magically cleared up they would've been too small to win it all.

I'm curious about a hypothetical version of CP3 that's about 8 to 10 years older and somehow played with Shaq & Kobe during the 3-peat era.

Swap out D-Fish or Lue for CP3.

Do Shaq/CP3 team up against Kobe?

Do CP3/Kobe team up against Shaq?

Does CP3 piss them both off and end up with a toilet bowl full of Shaq's shyt in his Nike's?

I don’t see it. They’d have possibly been relying on a frontcourt built around a guy whose knees couldn’t handle a trip to the bowling alley and would probably have been capped out after Kobe & Paul. Hard to see a scenario where they’d have beaten the spurs or thunder in 2012 or 2013 and it would’ve been nuts to rely on Kobe as their top scorer with limited cap space beyond that. I don’t see how they’d have beaten the warriors either.
They were trading Bynum for Dwight the following year. That's why the trade was vetoed, not because the GM didn't have authorization or whatever else Stern said to save face from pressure from owners. He had the authorization for the best deal when Stern put him there. That's why if LA wanted him after veto, Bynum was mandatory or there were no talks

They got CP3 without giving up the main trade chip they'd need for a top 5 player at that time pre back injury, that was rumored to be going there 2 years before Bynum was traded for him. Miami formed and other owners didn't want another superteam

Kobe/CP3/Pau is absolutely beating the Spurs on the back leg, Thunder would've given more trouble but they're slightly over them too. Warriors weren't "Warriors" at that time and are irrelevant to the convo. Nobody in the west is beating that 3 if all 3 could play. And that's all they would've needed is those 3, bench play wasn't as much a factor back then. Kobe/CP3/Pau/D12 crushes Miami and that's what was coming. So CP3's whole career would've been entirely different if the trade happens, the league's different too

IF THAT TRADE WAS NEVER VETOED MIKE BROWN STAYS THE COACH

KOBE ISNT FORCED TO PLAY DANTONIS STUPID SYSTEM PUSHING HIS BODY FOR 48 MINS A NIGHT IN ORDER TO CHASE AN 8TH SEED, THUS NEVER RUPTURING HIS ACHILLES

HE GOES ON TO PLAY 24 SEASONS, RETIRING AT 41 WITH 8 RINGS

HE WOULD STILL BE ALIVE AND REGARDED AS THE GOAT TODAY

ON SOME BUTTERFLY EFFECT SHIIT
