How different would our education be if we went to school and learned how to create jobs for ourselves?

Incredibly so but schools will never push trades for whatever reason. It's not a godsend but if that was pushed the way a lot of normal HS curriculum is, instead of acting like being a plumber, electrician, mechanic, etc is valued less than just a plain HS diploma is insane.

And not only that, but showing them how to leverage it. A lot of shyt taught in school doesn't click until it's practical so you have the ability to also teach entrepreneurship, accounting, personal/business financials, etc.

Thing is, you can make some great money in industries other than trades as well independently...Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence content moderator, general contracting, real estate....all areas that solve our problems making good money without a degree..

seems like when schools started integrating they slowly stopped teaching life skills type of stuff like shop or even home-ec and they started teaching people to be subservient employees. :mjpls:

Didn't watch the video sorry OP

But wasn't there some conspiracy that rich elites designed the modern school system to train workers not bosses?

I will say not everyone can be a boss or start their own business. Some people just want to clock in clock out. It's a really capitalist idea to force people to be their own boss. When you work for yourself the hustle never stops

2 of those do depend on some skills or at least skillsets you develop in school though. No degree for cybersecurity will still require a fair amount of certifications that require extracurricular learning. And at least at my last job, our GCs all had a degree. I'm sure you can make it into all without a degree but require as much, if not even more discipline than being in school.

But generally agree on the principal but I would push for trades for people that aren't fit for school. Think there's a difference between the ones that it's not a fit for vs ones that aren't being taught subjects more personally related to them.

No seems like about it...if you wanna get deep, look into the reasons why Lyndon Johnson signed ESEA into law into 1965...That is what allowed Federal Government to come in and shift the focus from trades and home economics to standardized type testing and white collar curriculum..then have Bush Jr making it 2X worse with No Child Left Behind Act, then Obama with Race to the Top...basically making the purpose of Education to exclusively work for corporate CACs and not create anything..Obviously this hurts African Americans the most

Most business owners even the successful ones never took a business class.

It does not make sense for schools to teach business ownership at lower levels cause most people won't be a business owner and what exactly will they teach? How to run a plumbing business, a truck, bank..... It can be a thousand possibilities.

Schools already teach some of the tools you'll need to run a business and that's good enough.

Besides community and culture really drives entrepreneurship.

1900 to 1930 was the golden age of AA business ownership. How many schools you think was teaching it back then?
